Drums + Vocals
Texture and grit mixed in with a portion of soulful twang and a side of good-old fashioned pain, like only the South can serve. Those are some trademark sounds courtesy of Ryan Scarbrough, the newest member of MIGGS. His recent addition has brought a thicker edge and some depth that Don MIGGS welcomes on the upcoming record due out this year.
Ryan came to MIGGS after pounding away for several years in bands on the harder, faster and louder end of the music spectrum. According to Ryan, he had to deal with some egos that were as aggressive as the tunes he played. So he decided to freelance for a while as a session drummer, filling in for bands that needed a solid anchor man.
Each opportunity carried its own price, though. Ryan remembers one situation where he had one day to learn seven songs that he was supposed to play live in front a major crowd the next night. But Ryan was a consummate professional and handled his business well.
It wasn't until his famous buddy Kyle Cook from the well-known band Matchbox 20 rang him up and told him about the MIGGS gig that Ryan considered leaving behind his lifestyle as a journeyman. Ryan had been recommended for the new job by Cook, who also happened to be writing some songs with Don Miggs. Ryan didn't know he was signing on for a full-time slot until he met with Don and immediately felt a kindred sense of purpose and ambition.
Ryan saw how serious Don is about his music and was immediately attracted by the intensity. Now while on tour and juggling time in the studio, the relationship has begun to heat up in a good way. His fierce style and Don's fiery passion have helped ignite MIGGS to another level that both promise will reveal itself on the new record.
